Acupuncture

Acupuncture.  Everyone has heard of it, but not everyone understands it.
Acupuncture was shot into the limelight this summer as several Olympians swore they owed a great part of their health to chiropractic treatments and acupuncture. 
Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing by inserting small needles at very precise acupuncture points.  Needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain.  The chemicals can change the experience of pain and trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body’s own internal regulation system. 

While acupuncture is often associated with pain control, it has much broader application.  Acupuncture treatment is useful in treating: digestive disorders such as gastritis, hyperacidity, spastic colon and constipation and diarrhea, respiratory disorders like sinusitis, sore throat, bronchitis and asthma, neurological and muscular disorders such as headaches, sciatica, and various forms of tendonitis, urinary and menstrual problems as well as stress and emotional related conditions.
